The going out issue

Hello everyone ! What would you wear to a kids-free dinner out with friends?

I ask because this evening, if everything goes well, my husband and I are going out for aperitivo and dinner (living the life, uh?) with my mother-of-two best friend and her hubby. You may remember her from this post and this post, and thus you understand my position.

The last time we went out with them, I do not remember what I wore, but I certainly remember what she wore: jeans (probably designer), blue shirt and cozy embellished sweater by Brunello Cucinelli, and Chanel bag. It was the most understated, and yet classiest, look ever.

Any advice will be appreciated...
