Fun design at the Triennale

This weekend was Milan Design Weekend. One of the key partners of the event was the Triennale Design Museum, which is adjacent to the Sempione Park, the city's 116 acre urban park located between Piazza Sempione and the Sforza Castle. As they are an interesting museum and great park, and the weather was sunny and nice, we decided to head there with my brother- and sister-in-law, who were visiting us for a couple of days.

I had not been to the Triennale Museum in a while, and I found it much better than I remembered. We had a lot of freedom in browsing through it because all exhibits were exceptionally free. The part we all enjoyed the most was the kids' area that had been set up for the event. More in general, I discovered the philosophy of the TDMKids, a quite unique concept for an Italian art museum.

One of the things that disappointed me the most was the Louis Vuitton exhibit, which consisted of a total of twenty mannequins dressed in Louis Vuitton pieces without any explanation. You can find all pictures and a brief editorial on the exhibition here (I was not allowed to take my camera inside).

The other disappointing aspect of our visit was lunch. The Triennale's restaurant definitely gets a star for its incredibly original dinnerware, but its food is of sub-standard quality and totally overpriced. Next time, we'll take a picnic to the nearby park.
